Carnival celebrated Grand Bahama’s young swimmers ahead of their trip to Trinidad and Tobago, where Team Bahamas went on to capture its fourth consecutive Goodwill Swimming Championships title
Carnival Cruise Line recently welcomed eight members of The Bahamas’ Goodwill Swimming Championships team, along with two chaperones, to Celebration Key for a day of recognition, encouragement and fun. The visit took on added significance following the team’s victory at the Goodwill Swimming Championships in Trinidad and Tobago, where they secured their fourth consecutive championship title.
Led by chaperone Ashley Baker-Comarcho, the Grand Bahamian swimmers received a warm and energetic welcome from Carnival and Celebration Key’s Leadership Team, complete with music and dancing, before being escorted to a Supervilla cabana overlooking Starfish Lagoon, the family-friendly side of the destination. The athletes received special goodie bags prepared by their chaperones and featuring Carnival Celebration Key merchandise, including insulated water bottles to support hydration during training and travel, as well as Celebration Key luggage tags.

The group also participated in a meet-and-greet with members of Celebration Key’s Water Safety Department, where managers, supervisors and lifeguards shared insights into their roles and provided a behind-the-scenes tour of the destination’s water safety operations. The visit also provided the kids with an opportunity to connect with professionals who share their passion for swimming and whose work similarly emphasizes teamwork, discipline and water safety.

The experience continued with a vibrant Junkanoo performance at Lokono Cove, followed by lunch at Gill’s Grill, courtesy of Grupo Anderson. The day wrapped up with complimentary sweet treats from Yumshine Scoops and Mini Donut King, Celebration Key entrepreneurs.
The visit is part of Carnival Cruise Line’s sponsorship of the Goodwill swimming team and ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities where it operates through meaningful investments in youth development, education and sports. Carnival recognizes the important role athletics can play in building confidence, discipline and leadership, while providing young Bahamians with opportunities to share their talents, display their hard work, and set the example for excellence locally and abroad.
“At Carnival, we believe investing in our youth is one of the most impactful ways we can give back to our communities,” said Philcher Grant, director of public affairs and community engagement for The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos Islands, Carnival Cruise Line. “These athletes have dedicated countless hours to training, and we are honored to celebrate their achievements. Their dedication, teamwork and perseverance have culminated in an incredible accomplishment, and we congratulate them on capturing their fourth consecutive Goodwill Swimming Championships title.”
Grant added, “These swimmers embody discipline, determination and national pride, and we are proud to support them as they continue developing their skills, while representing The Bahamas. Congratulations to the entire team on becoming four-time Goodwill Swimming Championships champions. Their success is an inspiration to young athletes across our islands.”
Carnival Cruise Line is proud to partner with Bahamas Aquatics to support the development of young Bahamian athletes and provide meaningful opportunities to recognize and encourage their accomplishments.
